Products Description
Coace® W500 is a glycidyl methacrylate modified polyolefin elastomer with high grafted rate.
The toughener is a specialised polymer with a high grafting rate of reactive groups that is used to increase the toughness of polyester composites. The toughener works by uniformly spreading through the polyester mix and establishing cross-links with the polymer chains. This technique improves energy dissipation upon impact, reducing crack propagation and increasing overall toughness.
Polyester Compound Toughener with High Grafted Rate is a versatile and effective addition that improves the toughness and mechanical properties of polyester compounds. With its high grafted rate, superior impact resistance, and various advantages, this toughener has important applications in a variety of sectors. Polyester compounds treated with this toughener demonstrate increased toughness, durability, and flexibility.

- High Grafting Rate: The toughener has a high grafting rate of reactive groups, resulting in excellent adherence and compatibility with polyester matrices.
- Enhanced Impact Resistance: The main advantage of this toughener is its capacity to greatly improve the impact resistance of polyester compounds. It absorbs and releases impact energy, decreasing the likelihood of fracture or failure.
- Mechanical Strength: Polyester materials treated with the toughener have increased mechanical strength, including tensile strength and flexural modulus.
- Chemical Compatibility: The toughener’s chemical structure makes it compatible with a wide range of polyester resins, resulting in uniform dispersion and better characteristics.
- Temperature Stability: The toughener retains its qualities across a wide temperature range, ensuring stability and performance in a variety of environments.
- Polyester compounds containing the toughener undergo less shrinkage during processing, resulting in increased dimensional stability in moulded products.
Advantage
Increased Toughness: Adding this toughener to polyester compounds improves their resistance to impact and stress.
The toughener increases the durability and longevity of polyester-based products by lowering the danger of breaking or failure.
Increased Flexibility: Polyester compounds treated with the toughener have increased flexibility, making them appropriate for applications that require both strength and flexibility.
Improved Surface Finish: The toughener helps to smooth the surface finish of moulded parts, minimising the need for further finishing operations.
Cost-Effectiveness: Despite its high grafted rate, the toughener is affordable due to its low dosage requirement and efficacy in toughening polyester compounds.
Customisable Formulations: Manufacturers can adapt polyester formulations by changing the toughener dosage to match specific performance needs.

Application
Typical application
To be used as a toughener for polyester and the fire retardant filled polyester, eg. PET, PBT, PET/FR, PBT/FR and other polyester compounds.
To be used as a compatibilizer for polyolefin and polyester alloys.
To be used as an adhesive for some laminate structures.
Application Industry
Polyester Resin Modification: The toughener can be mixed directly into polyester resin compositions throughout the manufacturing process. The suggested dosage is normally between 2% and 5% by weight of polyester.
Composite Materials: The toughener is used to reinforce polyester-based composites, enhancing their mechanical qualities for use in marine, aerospace, and consumer products.
Injection Moulding: Polyester compounds including toughener are ideal for injection moulding processes, resulting in tough and durable parts for a variety of industries.
Extrusion: The toughener allows for the extrusion of polyester profiles and sheets with increased toughness and impact resistance.
