  • Maleic Anhydride Functionality:Our coupling agent is composed of a polyethylene polymer grafted with maleic anhydride (MAH) functional groups. These cyclic anhydride moieties are extremely reactive and can create covalent connections with the hydroxyl groups on the surface of wood fibers. This establishes a strong physical and chemical bond between the polymer and the wood, significantly increasing interfacial adhesion.
  • Improved mechanical properties:By improving the wood-plastic interface, our MAH-grafted polyethylene coupling agent directly improves the mechanical performance of WPCs. We observed up to 30% gains in tensile strength, flexural modulus, and impact resistance as compared to unaltered WPC formulations. The improved stress transfer allows the wood fibers to better strengthen the polymer matrix.
