Coace® W1A-5 is a polyolefin elastomer that has been treated with anhydride and possesses a high grafting rate. Additionally, it has a light glass transition temperature.

The low Tg anhydride-modified impact modifier for PA6 is a significant achievement in the field of engineering plastics.   • Low glass transition temperature: Our impact modifier has a glass transition temperature considerably below 0°C, which ensures that it stays flexible and impact resistant even in cold weather applications. This is critical for PA6 parts that must sustain impacts and prevent cracking or shattering in freezing temperatures.
  • Anhydride Modification: The anhydride functional groups on our polyolefin backbone provide a high interfacial adhesion between the impact modifier and the PA6 matrix. This improves stress transfer during impact events, allowing the ductile elastomer phase to absorb and disperse impact energy.
  • Superior impact performance: The combination of low Tg and anhydride functionality offers our impact modifier an extraordinary capacity to toughen PA6. Even with loadings as low as 10 wt%, we’ve seen over 100% increases in Charpy impact strength compared to unmodified PA6, with good impact resistance maintained down to -30 °C.
  • Excellent processability: Our impact modifier is intended for simple inclusion into PA6 during compounding or injection molding. It has a low melt viscosity, making it easily distributed, and it has no substantial impact on the overall melt flow of the PA6 compound. This simplifies the process while also significantly improving toughness.
  • Broad Compatibility: In addition to PA6, our impact modifier is compatible with a variety of other engineering thermoplastics, such as PC, PBT, and PET. This adaptability enables producers to use the same impact modifier in numerous resin systems, simplifying material handling and inventory management.
