Application de l'élastomère polyoléfine POE dans le domaine photovoltaïque

Photovoltaic power generation will have plenty of potential to grow as carbon neutrality becomes a global focus. The total installed capacity of photovoltaic systems throughout the world was 760.4 GW as of the end of 2020. The majority of the material used to make the film is EVA, with an ever-rising fraction of POE.

The history of the solar sector has been one of constant cost- and efficiency-cutting improvements. What are the benefits of POE materials as they are substantially more expensive than EVA? From the aforementioned perspectives, we will introduce POE today.

1.POE  use in the photovoltaic sector

comprehending the PID, which is frequently used in the solar business, is important before comprehending the application of POE in that sector. Potential Induced Degradation, often known as potential induced decay, is the full name of PID in English.

The PID effect was first identified and proposed by the American company SunPower Corporation in 2005. It describes a situation in which components operate at high voltage for an extended period of time, leakage current exists between the cover glass, packaging material, and frame, and a significant charge builds up on the cell surface, causing the surface to passivate. The component’s performance falls short of the design requirement as a result of the deteriorating effect, which also causes a drop in fill factor, short-circuit current, and open-circuit voltage, but this attenuation is reversible.

The PID effect has also been discovered and is now understood by several research. When the solar module is negatively biased, anode ions—typically Na ions—flow into the battery sheet from the leakage current, lowering the battery’s parallel resistance. The semiconductor develops impurities, and these impurities may create conductive channels inside the battery, lowering the module’s current output. The third reason for the PID effect of photovoltaic modules is that the edge of the module is vulnerable to water vapor infiltration, EVA will produce acetic acid after hydrolysis, and acetic acid reacts with sodium in the glass to produce a large number of freely moving Na ions. These Na ions then react with the silver grid lines on the surface of the battery sheet, corroding them and increasing series resistance, which causes attenuation.

Having stated that, it is actually to illustrate how PID is connected to the hydrolysis of EVA.

POE film-encapsulated photovoltaic modules can have a longer product life cycle and higher durability since they have a low water vapor transfer rate, which removes the corrosion issues brought on by the use of EVA encapsulation films. Enhance the production of electricity, increase the efficacy, dependability, and lifespan of solar modules, increase their tolerance to potential-induced attenuation (PID), and decrease the likelihood of premature module failure and replacement. Additionally, POE is increasingly frequently employed on the back side of bifacial power production and PERC cell components in order to address PID. PID on the front side and POE on the front side make N-type TOPCon simple to utilize.
