PBT is a milky white, semi-crystalline, translucent to opaque thermoplastic polyester. It is durable, fatigue resistant, self-lubricating, low friction coefficient, high heat resistance, and can operate under 140°C for extended periods of time.
It is flammable, decomposes at high temperatures, can withstand organic solvents but is not resistant to strong acids and alkalis.
It is widely utilized in the industries of automobiles, mechanical equipment, precise instrument components, electrical appliances, textiles, etc. because of its superior qualities.
The majority of PBT resins are created as blends, which can be altered with different additives and combined with other resins to provide materials with good overall heat resistance, flame retardancy, electrical insulation, and processing performance.

One of the advantages of W5B is its low residue, which means that it can be used in applications where low levels of residual monomers or other impurities are desired. Additionally, the glycidyl ester functional group provides W5B with reactive sites that can be used for various functionalization reactions, such as cross-linking or modification with other chemicals.

It can be seen from the above table that the super toughening effect achieved by adding 15% W5B in the PBT toughening system is close to that of imported polyester toughening agents.
